The Manawatū-Whanganui region is full of the promise of economic growth and yet it has struggled to reach that promise in recent years. In order to realise its full potential, HenleyHutchings, in association with NZIER, commenced work on a Growth Study for the region. Completed in 2015, the study focused on the contemporary issues facing the region, and identified eight key areas of opportunity and three 'enablers' to increase job opportunities and quality of life in the Manawatū-Whanganui region by connecting people, business, iwi and the environment.
Regional Action Plan
HenleyHutchings, in association with local consultancy, Spearhead, developed Accelerate25, the programme of work that would identify exactly who, how, what and when the opportunities identified in the Manawatū-Whanganui Growth Study should be pursued.
In mid-2016 a Regional Action Plan was publicly released, detailing what it will take to accelerate opportunities for a stronger and more prosperous Manawatū-Whanganui by 2025 for the region’s people, mokopuna and for New Zealand.
In developing the study and in turn the Regional Action Plan, we used quantitative and qualitative methods of information gathering, including extensive interviewing of stakeholders.
This programme provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity for this region to consider the challenges it faces and address them at a level that will have lasting outcomes.
Both the Growth Study and the Action Plan required marketing and communications services.
