Southland Regional Development Strategy (SoRDS) is a comprehensive regional strategy and action plan developed for the Southland region. Worked on over a two-year period and overseen by a regional Governance Group, the strategy covered a number of major areas of regional development potential, including tourism and visitor services.

HenleyHutchings led a consulting team which prepared an initial strategy document which gave overall direction and then a detailed Action Plan which is now guiding implementation. The various elements of the Action Plan are being implemented by local agencies, including Venture Southland. During the Action Plan phase, SoRDS had a fulltime equivalent staff member overseeing it.

HenleyHutchings’ involvement has continued through the process of designing the institutional arrangements necessary to carry the SoRDS programme (and broader regional development priorities) through to implementation.
